# Managing licenses

> Your keys, and the devices they’re active on.

The **Licenses** tab lists every license on your account.

## License keys

Each license card shows the tool it belongs to, the license key, and its current status.

## Activations

Below the key is a list of the devices the license is activated on, named by each computer’s hostname, with the one you’re currently using marked **This Device**. Licenses with a device limit show how many activations you’ve used, e.g. `[2/3]`.

## Moving to a new machine

To free up a seat, deactivate the device you no longer need from the license card, then activate the tool on the new machine from its [Tools tab](/the-app/installing-tools).

  Hit the activation limit? Deactivating an old device frees the seat immediately. There’s no need to contact support unless the old machine is gone for good and doesn’t appear in the list.
